Spring is near. When I drove to Wageningen this morning I saw ducks mating near the side of the road. When I came back, the female was splashed all over the concrete, a sad heap of blood and feathers. Sad truth, lots of female ducks do not survive the mating season.
More peaceful things then: flowers, fruits and veggies. The Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1527 – July 11, 1593) created imaginative portraits composed from fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books. This is his primavera, or spring.
Look at that lace collar of daisies, orangeblossom and jasmin!
All edible, by the way.
